For more than twenty years our language school was situated on the southern coast of the Crimea, a beautiful peninsula jutting out into the Black Sea. You can find a short history of our school and information about our activities by following this link.
After the now infamous events in the Crimea of March 2014, we were sadly forced to seek a new place for our work. We chose Odessa.
Looking back on the collapse of the Soviet Union and the establishment of Ukraine as an independent state, there followed many difficult years that were hardly conducive to creativity. Nevertheless, bursting with enthusiasm and ideas, this proved a productive time for us and we managed to achieve a great deal. The current atmosphere is unfortunately rather more stifling and we regret that we have been unable to find a way forward for our Samota-based programme.
We are not abandoning the Crimea forever though: we still believe that common sense will prevail. However, circumstances have forced our hand for the moment and we are now viewing this episode as a challenge – and we intend to rise to it!
Just as in the Crimea, we are offering language courses in Russian and Ukrainian, alongside an interesting cultural programme with opportunities to participate in fascinating excursions in and around Odessa.
